Homemade Tortilla Chips

So simple, yet full of delicious flavors that are absolutely mouthwatering! If you’re like me, they’re likely to save us some money since I’m prone to going through bags of chips quite quickly. They can easily be made grain-free, depending on the tortillas you choose, and tossed into the mix of most savory dishes, from burrito bowls to a side for a salad. They’re crunchy, crispy, and yes, people will be asking for more of these golden-brown beauties!

Ingredients:

  • 6 burrito/12 regular-sized tortillas

  • 3 tbsp avocado oil (in spray form is best!)

  • 1 tbsp pepper

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp pink salt

  • For A Lime Flavor:

  • 3 tbsp lime juice

  • 1/2 tbsp lime zest

  • 1 tsp paprika

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven or airfryer to 390 degrees, then line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Stack about three tortillas on top of one another, and slice them into 6-8 triangles (think of it like slicing a pizza!).

  3. Transfer these triangles onto a sheet pan or airfryer tray, making only 1-2 layers of them so they are not piled on top of one another. This helps get them crispy, and there will still be plenty of time to enjoy these if you make them in multiple batches!

  4. Spray, or very lightly drizzle the avocado oil over the tortilla triangles. Sprinkle half of the spices over the top, and, if using, the ingredients for lime-flavored chips as well (can always make some lime and some simply seasoned!). Use the other half for the other side of the triangles.

  5. On the lowest rack(s) possible, either airfry these for 1-2 minutes on each side, or in the oven for 3-4 minutes on each side. Feel free to finish off by broiling them for about 30 seconds (watch carefully so they don’t burn!).

  6. Allow the chips to cool for a few minutes, then enjoy with your favorite salsa, burrito bowl, guac, or simply on their own!

  7. Store leftovers, if any, in an airtight container. Enjoy within a few days!
