Jalapeño Cheddar Burgers

Attention all spicy food lovers: these are here for you! The warm bites of cheddar cheese blend beautifully with the subtle kick that fresh jalapeños give here. All this takes is one bowl, one pan, and less than 20 minutes to make this part of a hearty meal or comforting appetizer (see notes). Add some crispy, homemade fries and a side salad, and you've got a 20-minute meal made that everyone will love!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound organic ground chicken/turkey/grass-finished beef

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 3-4 tbsp jalapeños, diced finely (about 2 medium jalapeños)

  • 1/3 cup red onion, diced finely

  • 1/2 tsp pepper

  • 1/2 tsp pink salt

  • 3/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated (I used this!)

  • 1 tbsp avocado oil/ghee

Directions:

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, add all of the ingredients except for the cheese and the avocado oil/ghee. Mix all of these ingredients together until everything is well-incorporated.

  2. Fold in the grated cheddar cheese.

  3. Place the oil/ghee in a skillet and place it over a burner on low-medium heat for about 1 minute. Use your hands to shape the meat mixture into burger patties, and transfer them to the warm skillet as you go. Let each burger cook for about 4-6 minutes, flip, then for another 2-3 minutes, or until fully-cooked. You may not be able to fit all the patties on the skillet at once, and that’s totally fine!

  4. Grab your favorite condiments and any sides you’re craving and enjoy!

  5. Store leftovers, if any, in an airtight container for up to one week in the fridge.

Notes:

  • Turn these burgers into a delicious appetizer by making smaller patties so they turn out as sliders! The cook time will likely be a few minutes shorter per side so be sure to keep an eye on them while they’re cooking.
