Savory Sage Stuffing

You may or may not be reading this right before it’s traditional debut, but I find stuffing just as cozy, anytime of year! No need to feel restricted to what’s listed below. Juicy chicken sausage, extra herbs, celery, and okra slices would all pair so well with this classic main or side dish. Simply enjoying the gluten + grain free, homemade-ish bread alone is also highly acceptable. Overall, it is oh so aromatic and will draw anyone to the table!

Ingredients:

Bread:

  • 1 box this bread mix

  • 3 eggs, pasture raised

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

  • 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1/2 tbsp rosemary

  • 1/2 tbsp sage

Other Ingredients:

  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced

  • 1/2 cup carrots, sliced as preferred

  • 1/2 cup red onions

  • 1 tbsp avocado oil

  • 1 cup (turkey) bone broth

  • 1 tsp pink salt

  • parsley, for garnish (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking dish with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare the bread as instructed under “loaf,” then stir in the two herbs. Simply whisk the wet ingredients together, then stir in the dry.

  3. Pour into the pan, then let cook for about 1 hour and cool for at least 5 minutes.

  4. Meanwhile, in the last 10-15 minutes the bread needs to cook, cut the garlic, carrots, and red onions, as instructed.

  5. Once prepped, sauté these three things in avocado oil on low-medium heat, until they start browning, just a tad.

  6. Pour in the bone broth and cover over low-medium heat, for 4-5 minutes.

  7. While that is simmering, break the bread into cubes and cover the bottom of a 9x13 dish with them, as best as possible. Broil on the bottom rack for about 6 minutes and watch carefully!

  8. Once the broth mixture is done simmering, stir in the pink salt, then pour over the layer of broiled bread in the dish.

  9. Cover with foil and cook for a final 12-14 minutes.

  10. Let cool for at least five minutes, then enjoy!

  11. Store leftovers, if any, in an airtight container in the fridge.

Notes:

  • Use any type of bread you prefer, just make sure there is about 5.5 cups of cubes. Skip straight down to step four, if it is already made.

  • Feel free to add anything you would like, from juicy chicken sausage, all the way to creamy goat cheese. Let me know what you use in the comments, I would love to hear, always!
