Morning Iced Matcha
For anyone who’s tired of their coffee’s inclusive energy spikes and crashes, I’ve got the perfect alternative! Matcha is simply ground green tea leaves, which famously increases metabolism and diminishes heart disease risk, overtime. Fun fact: I drink it every single night, and even travel with my tea bags! This refreshing, colorful beverage is smooth, sweet, and frothy on top. Added sugars, despite the optional honey, are not welcome here, but no one would ever believe it’s true. After the first sip, it will likely become an addition to your morning routine, proceed with caution!
Ingredients:
1/2 tsp organic + ceremonial-grade matcha
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
3 tbsp hot water
1-1.5 cups milk of choice, preferably unsweetened
1/4-1/2 cup ice cubes
Optional Add-ins:
1-2 scoops collagen peptides
1-2 tsp honey
Directions:
In a small bowl, add in the matcha powder, cinnamon, and vanilla, along with the collagen, if using.
Add in the hot water.
With a matcha whisk (see notes, if you do not have one!), mix the ingredients until smooth and there are no more clumps.
In your glass of choice, add in ice and (frothed) milk.
Pour the matcha mixture over the ice + milk, then grab a reusable straw and enjoy!
Notes:
If preferred, you can simply combine blend everything together then skip straight to the last step! If you don’t have a matcha whisk, you can also use a frother, whisk or small blender to mix everything together well.
Get creative, and make matcha ice cubes the night before, so the cold drink doesn’t get watered down.
Feel free to make a big batch, without ice, and store it in the fridge. Pour over ice, when the craving hits!
