Chocolate Covered Strawberry Smoothie
This rich, creamy smoothie is just the reason to have chocolate for breakfast that we’ve been dreaming of! Each sip is a balance between the refreshing taste of juicy, vibrant strawberries and smooth chocolate. It’s the perfect cross between the comforting foods of fall + winter and cooling ones of spring + summer. Don’t let the dark color stop you — It is truly such a, secretly, protein-packed and fiber-filled drink that the entire family, even the kids, will love!
Ingredients:
3/4-1 cup unsweetened, organic almond milk (or your milk of choice!)
1/2 a medium avocado
2 cups organic spinach
3/4 cup organic strawberries
1 scoop (vegan) chocolate protein powder
1-2 tbsp ground flax seeds
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp spirulina (optional)
1/4 tsp ginger
1 cup ice
Directions:
Place all of the ingredients (just 3/4 cup milk), except for the ice, into the blender until everything is blended smooth and well-incorporated.
Add in the ice and blend until smooth once more.
If you prefer a different consistency, incrementally add the final 1/4 of milk and/or more ice.
Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy!
Notes:
To keep your smoothie cooler and thicker for a prolonged time, simply place your glass in the freezer while you make the smoothie and pull it out, once you finish!
Though I do not recommend it, if you want to store any leftovers, I recommend storing them in the fridge, adding a bit of ice, and reblending the smoothie when ready to enjoy again! This will help resolve the natural separation smoothies often experiences within a few hours or so.
