Glow-To Smoothie

Smoothies are a summer necessity for me, along with many others. I sip on this one in particular at least three times per week, as a lunch or snack, to fill nutrient gaps into my day. This is packed full of fiber, potassium, omega-3 fats, protein, and more! Surprisingly, there’s only three ingredients with a taste: organic blueberries and açai and almond butter, say what?! Cool down with this quick and simple drink, especially on any extra hot day!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups spinach

  • 1 cup kale

  • 1 half packet organic açai

  • 1/2 cup organic bluberries

  • 1/2 avocado, medium

  • 2 tbsp almond butter, creamy

  • 2 scoops collagen peptides, unflavored (optional)

  • 1-2 tbsp flax seeds

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp ginger

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric

  • water, as needed

  • ice, as needed

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients in the blender, although holding off on the water and ice.

  2. Blend for about 10 seconds, then add water to thin (start small, but I use about 1/2 cup).

  3. Once a very liquidy consistency is reached, and no chunks are hiding, add ice to thicken.

  4. Pour and enjoy this energizing smoothie often, if you’re anything like me!

Notes:

  • I blend everything first, then match the same amount of ice as other ingredients. This limits the chance of chunks appearing, while drinking.

  • Can substitute cashew butter or sunflower seed butter, just make sure it’s creamy.

  • Hemp or chia seeds can be switched for flax seeds.

  • Place the greens in closest to the blades, for an easier blend. Trust me, I’m speaking from experience.

  • For this to stay cool longer, freeze the cup or jar you’ll be drinking out of.

  • The avocado is what gives smoothies an extra, well smooth, consistency. Also sneaks in some healthy fats!
