Golden Milk Turmeric Latte

I primarily drink matcha and various other teas, along with the occasional iced coffee, but I make an exception when there’s a golden milk latte on the menu! It’s safe to say this beloved, anti-inflammatory drink —thanks to the pepper bringing out the bio-availability of turmeric’s benefits— defines the word comfort. The warm spices, from nutmeg to sprinkles of cinnamon over the top, naturally sweeten each sip so elegantly and with great ease. Enjoy in about 5-10 minutes while you make your morning breakfast or brunch to have alongside this vibrant cup of joe!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond/coconut milk

  • 2 tbsp coconut cream

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric

  • 1/8 tsp black pepper

  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg

  • 1-2 scoops collagen (optional)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tbsp instant ground coffee

  • 1/4 cup hot water

  • 1/4-1/2 cup ice (optional)

    • bonus: use coffee ice cubes by simply freezing (cold brew) coffee in an ice cube tray and popping them out as you please (live your life!)

  • cinnamon, for sprinkling on top

Directions:

  1. In a small saucepan, pour in the milk and bring this to a boil. Next, turn the heat down to low and stir in the coconut cream until it melts and mixes into the milk completely.

  2. Carefully (it stains things!) sprinkle and stir in the turmeric, pepper, and nutmeg until the mixture turns bright yellow. Add the collagen here as well, if using, and stir until it dissolves.

  3. Turn the burner off and remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract, then let this sit.

  4. Mix the ground coffee with hot water in your favorite mug. Add ice to the mug, if desired. Froth the milk mixture with a (handheld) frother or immersion blender. You don’t have to, but this really takes things up a few notches, if you ask me! Pour the mixture over the coffee in the mug.

  5. Sprinkle with cinnamon, then enjoy!
